Hardwood

Hardwood flooring has also been a popular choice for centuries. Its gleaming appearance delivers a warm feel to any home.

With the amazing variety of domestic, exotic and imported hardwoods available, there is virtually no limit to the color and texture you can choose. Woods are available in colors ranging from palest white to blackest black, with everything else in between. Over time, you will notice subtle differences in the shading as the wood ages.

Given our gulf coast climate with its high humidity, we recommend engineered hardwoods as opposed to solid hardwoods. The difference is that solid hardwood is made from a single piece of wood, usually about ¾ of an inch thick. Engineered hardwood is created as two layers, the top of which is wood veneer, and the lower either plywood or solid wood. You won’t notice any difference in appearance between the two types, but the engineered hardwood will be less vulnerable to humidity.
